Webinar: What is Enlightenment?

Posted by on Jan 12, 2015 in Webinars | 16 Comments

Enlightenment, Samadhi, or Christ Consciousness are terms that are often used in religious circles, but could there be an objective, scientifically verifiable reality behind them? In this webinar, veteran Kundalini activist, researcher, and vedic astrologer Michael Bradford will dispel the most common misconceptions about what it is to be Enlightened, and will show that true Enlightenment is much more than what most people believe it to be.

What is Enlightenment?

When it comes to religion and the New Age movement, there is no topic more confused than the subject of Enlightenment. Many well-known pundits today claim Enlightenment is simply a shift of perspective or attitude. Michael Bradford will show that this type of thinking is totally incorrect, and that Enlightenment has a solid biological basis. Michael will show the characteristics of Enlightenment, what seekers of today need to know about the mechanism that produced the enlightened sages and seers of the past, and will provide some basic criteria for assessing whether someone is Enlightened or not.

I am looking forward to this seminar since I have been a devotee of the Eastern “way” for many years. I have had two “K” experiences separated by only 25 years.

Some people are extremely healthy and have no interest in enlightenment. Some sages have been crippled but were very enlightened. Some people without kundalini symptoms are very saintly. And it is very possible to have kundalini activated and to even be extremely self-centered, even demonic. The first step in enlightenment is to have the direct perception that I am not this temporal vehicle, this material body. The symptoms of one who actually knows that I am not this body will effortlessly transcend mundane conceptions such as a sense of family, a sense of gender, concern over heat and cold, hunger and thirst, honor and dishonor, a sense of nationalsim, a sense of race. One who perceives directly that “I am not this body”, will be devoid of such sense of designations. That is the first step……..

      Hi Peter

All of the points you made were excellent, and I will try to address them all in the webinar. What I will say here is that when one has a more complete understanding of how the Kundalini mechanism as a whole works, the answers to these questions become obvious.

Thank you for the invite. I am excited and looking forward to this webinar.

    @Mike Bradford ,
    1. is there a connection between astrology and kundalini / enlightnment ? In other words, can Vedic astrology reveal what age a person attains spiritual enlightenment if you have an exact birth chart of the person ?
    2. Do planetary position in birth chart play a role in spirituality ?
    3. is there a connection between twin flames meeting and kundalini awakening or christ consciousness ?

    Thanks again.

      Hi Shaila

      To answer your points:

      1. Vedic astrology, called Jyotisha, is one of the six limbs of the Veda and, as such, is an integral part of the ancient Vedic spiritual tradition of India. The primary goal of this tradition was enlightenment, and Jyotisha (called the ‘eye’ of the Veda), was used as a tool to help people understand their own nature to a very deep level or, in other words, to ‘see’ that which is unseen.

The practice itself was regarded as a spiritual discipline, and many who did it, such as Sri Yukteshwar (the guru of Paramahamsa Yogananda) were well known for their spiritual advancement.

      2. Yes, there are various indicators in a birth chart that show an interest in, or focus on, spirituality. For example, Paramahamsa Yogananda and Ramakrishna Paramahamsa both had a number of very strong ‘yogas’ or planetary combinations for spirituality. When a person goes through what is called a dasha or ‘life cycle’ of the planets forming these yogas, it is often the case that they have powerful spiritual experiences.

      3. I am not familiar with the ‘twin flames’ symbol you are referring to. From what source does it come?

In general, the flame (which represents light), is a symbolic representation of the inner light perceived in a mystical experience. The flame held in the left upper hand of the Dancing Shiva statue, or Nataraj, is an example of this.

        Micheal,
Thank you for your answers. Regarding my question number 3, I am referring to “twin flames and soul mates”. I read about the swift the earth is going through ( re incarnating ) in to 5D, many twin flames are uniting to serve the higher purpose. From the birth chart, can an astrologer tell if he / she has a twin flame ? . What I understand, twin flames meet in their last incarnation on earth.

        Thanks,
        Shaila

          Hi Shaila

As far as I am aware, “twin flames” is a modern concept and is not part of the Vedic tradition.

One of the main uses of Vedic astrology over the centuries has been to match prospective couples for marriage (since most marriages have traditionally been arranged). This system has become quite comprehensive over this time and compares the compatibility of two people in many different ways.

Vedic astrology is all about karma, and in doing an analysis of two charts for compatibility it is necessary to see both the karma of the individual with regard to marriage and also the dynamic interaction of the two charts. In this way, it is possible to see which issues are a consequence of an individual’s own karma, and which are due to the interaction with a particular partner.

I hope this answers your question.

I have been dealing with Kundalini energy since march of 2014 with the death of my husband. I was in such deep grief that I didn’t care if I seen morning. Then it happened in the middle of the night….I thought it was GOD that came into my room, it was such sense of love, bliss, it was euphoric. I was paralyzed but had no fear I knew it had to be spiritual. It took me months to understand what was happening to me I felt like I was walking on water I couldn’t get grounded, at night I could feel the energy rolling through me. It was strongest in my head…..it continues still after almost 1 year, it feels milder and deeper. I have learned a lot from your webinar.

I also wanted to let you know, I now have visits from spirit, I also have visions and see energy and have experienced some mystic encounters. I know now anything is possible in this universe.

Thank you so much. Sincerely Joy.

    Hello Michael

I want to thank you for such an informative sharing about Kundalini Shakti and Enlightenment. Each time I hear you speak I realize the depth of knowledge that you understand about this process and your deep respect of it. I hope that you will continue to share with us in the future. It is very helpful. I also wanted to make a comment about the question of drugs and kundalini experience. When I was young I experimented with drugs as it was the in thing to do. I was very insecure and aimless in my life. I had many of what I call “wow” experiences that lasted as long as the drug was in my system. However, I took a course in meditation that was more an experiential process within. During the four day period, I had a few internal experiences, without drugs, of course, that literally changed my life and I realized that those drug experiences never impacted my life like these few internal experiences . I would say that I gave up smoking and drugs, but it would be more appropriate to say that the internal intelligence behind these experiences eliminated them from my consciousness and I have never ever looked back. This new and wondrous activity within my system shook my very being and somehow created a new healthy approach to my own personal evolution. After one experience of Kundalini the potential to shed external things which are not healthy for its further evolution literally just happened. To this day I am still amazed and in awe of those few experiences that have changed my life for the better. I am ever grateful and respectful of the transformation process within each and everyone of us. Thank you again for taking this time to share with us.

enlightment, kundalinis, light, unity, integration, to become, evolution, whoness and more terms are all about the ancient cabala, only with recycled ideologies to fool people – the cabala is luciferic since it’s god is lucifer, the light bearer – the cabala is the religion of judaism and it’s contained in the babylonian talmud….the ‘new age’ one hears about is nothing but fragments of ideologies of the cabala…all modern spiritualities come from the cabala..even eastern mysticisms and spiritualities were born in ancient times from the cabala – if you study them all and it’s particularities, you’ll get to the conclusion they all follow the same concepts…

      Luis,

The primary reason that all religious and spiritual paths seem to follow the same common thread is not because they are all somehow descendants of the Cabala, but is instead due to the fact that all forms of spiritual knowledge have a common biological origin within the body, known to the ancient Indians as Kundalini. This not only explains the similarities between religions, but puts religion and spirituality in a position where they can inform science, rather than being at odds with it. We are hypothesizing that the biological basis for genius, insanity, and religion – Kundalini – is at the same time the mechanism responsible for the evolution of the brain. If our proposed experiments on Kundalini are proven in a rigorous laboratory setting, it would put to rest any speculation on the origin of religions, showing that religion serves a very specific evolutionary purpose.

Im curious about whether you have established a theory as to the method for how the Kundalini is experienced. And whether or not you have theorized a system for why that method works.

      Hello Matt,

The single best resource right now in the way of a theory of Kundalini is the ICR’s Memorandum for Kundalini Research. Traditionally, meditation, i.e. the cultivation of an intense state of inner absorption as seen in geniuses or great artists, has been the chief instrument used throughout antiquity to awaken Kundalini. This, combined with a sanctified existence in tune with the laws of the brain constitute the two most important methods that we can identify. The subject of Kundalini is vast and requires tremendous skill to understand. The writings of Gopi Krishna, especially his books of inspired poetry, are some of the most important resources on the subject for the serious learner.

My idea of enlightenment comes from the Buddha. Once one recognizes the illusory nature of existence one will naturally let it go. Also, understanding my own ultimate ignorance helps me to let go of the gross and subtle aspects of discriminating thought which tend to weigh me down. This takes some effort and a level of true humility. In my experience most people will not admit this to themselves. However, this is the only way to eliminate the conditioned mind. One becomes free from cyclic mental routines or habits by seeing the illusory nature of thought and all thing-ness or duality’s. The futility or limited nature of everyday thinking is such because it is based in sensation seeking as opposed to seeking to understand who one is. Realizing one is neither body nor mind one realizes oneself to be the fullness of the present moment abiding in simultaneous time. Understanding myself this way has allowed me to become profoundly sensitive to energies that others are unaware of. My process began by simply practicing presence. Everything I needed came to me naturally as a result of being present and open.
